Midges/Larva Dry Flies Nymphs Emergers Terrestrials Classics
Although I enjoy catching large fish on small dries, I am not a "purist". Through reading and by experience, I have found that many more fish can be taken on sub-surface patterns than on dry flies. It is not as glamorous, but keep in mind that trout can eat up to 90% of their food below the surface!
Here, in the fly box, I have tried to include the most popular flies for the rivers discussed in this site. I have also included the patterns I have found most productive. Keep in mind that every pattern can have several variations. These variations can include colors, tying materials, hook shape, etc... It is always a good idea to check with the local fly shops and anglers to get acquainted with what patterns are 'hot'.
