This is a site for those of us who love the challenge of flyfishing around Denver, Colorado. Here, you will find useful information on the quality rivers and streams within a 2-hour drive of downtown Denver.
The waters discussed here include some of the best flyfishing in the Rocky Mountains. More importantly, they can all be done as day-trips! All of theses rivers have quality trout and offer the chance for a trophy. Here, a trophy fish is one that gets it picture taken and then returned to the water. There a few things in this world that should be stuffed, but a beautiful rocky mountain trout isn't one of them. I have landed many "picture" fish that had been hooked before and have probably been caught since. Let's all practice safe 'catch-and-release' and allow someone else the challenge of landing that lunker!

I have tried to include information that will be useful to anglers of all skills and ability. You can use this sight to check the current flows (I try to update weekly) for the rivers I have chosen to include or you can go the the Colorado Division of Water Resources' site and choose any river or stream that has a gauging station on it. You may also connect to Division of Wildlife's page and view the current Colorado Fishing Report. Information on the rivers consists of: a brief description, fishing techniques, simple hatch predictions, directions and a map. Eventually, I am also going to add a trip log page with results of recent outings. View the rivers page to get current weather and a quick outline of each river. The Flybox page includes what I have found to be the most productive patterns for these waters.
The information shared on these pages has come from personal experience, books, and those great conversations that fly fishermen have with one another. One book in particular, Flyfishing Colorado, has been a great resource. This book, written by Marty Bartholomew, should be on the bookshelf of everyone that enjoys fly fishing in Colorado. Also, thanks to the friendly folks at Flies'nLies in Deckers and to the guys at Discount Flyfishing (south Sante Fe Blvd.) who always have time for my questions.
If there is something that you would like to see on this site, e-mail me and I can at least check out your request. Feel free to send other suggestions as well.
Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you on the water!
